Transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) A transanal rectal excision with a transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) platform was performed on a patient with a posterior rectal adenoma. Electrocautery was used to begin the dissection taking the mucosa down to the sphincter muscle and advancing left to right to remove the lesion from the left posterior part of the sphincter muscle. Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) for the treatment of benign rectal lesions so that patients can be provided with better surgi Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery for Rectal Cancer. Fig. 27.1. Operative positioning for TAMIS. (a) The patient is placed in high lithotomy position for posterior Abstract: Transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) is mainly used for benign tumors of the rectum, but there are few reports on treating malignant tumors of the rectum with a large volume.

TransAnal Miimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) is a specially designed technique which allows surgery to be performed within the back passage (rectum) using a special instrument called an laparoscope (telescope). What is it used for? TransAnal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) is a new technique used to remove tumors from the rectum. TAMIS removes tumors faster than traditional surgeries and with less pain during recovery and a quicker return to normal activity. The procedure is completed in about an hour, and the patient is often discharged from the hospital within 24 hours. Transanal minimally invasive surgery is a rapidly evolving platform surgery that is facilitating the transanal approach to colorectal surgery.
